It was my turn to host ladies bunco. It’s always good to have an event at your house every now and then….at least for me, because then I usually do something creative. Or it inspires me to complete that one chore of cleaning up my scraproom. Well this time it only inspired me to create something. My scraproom is still a mess. Oh well.
I decided this year I wanted different Pumpkin topiaries. I’ve used my fake orange ones for 3 years or so. This year I wanted a white one……but after searching high and low for that perfect white pumpkin………..with a stem……all I could find were larger ones without a stem. I’m so picky. So, I picked up one of those bluish/greenish ones to plop on the top. Pretty cute huh? Then I decided to use my owls I picked up in Utah this summer. Those babies were only $1.49.
I used a grapevine wreath that I found at Michaels for $3.99. Then I found some Fall picks on clearance for $1.50. I tore those apart and stuck pieces of them in the wreath. I left the dirt in my urn from my summer plants, plopped my pumpkins on top….and called it good. I love how they turned out.
Bad time to take photos…….way too bright.
My small pumpkin was too small for this planter…….I didn’t let that ruin my day. I just grabbed a section from the morning paper, wadded it up and shoved it in my planter and placed my too small pumpkin on top. Then I added the owl. ![]()
That little laminated card says that Family and Friends are Always welcome, but I do not except soliciting from religious groups, political campaigns and door to door marketing.

I love what your card says...
I had a carpet cleaner dude come to the house last weekend when we were all sick...I couldnt get rid of him for nothing...finally I tried lying and told him our carpet was getting torn out the next week..he wouldnt give up..I finally just slammed the door in his face!
I have been searching for a cute "No Soliciting" sign since, but didn't want to deter those cute girl scouts...cuz I love me some Samoas and Thin Mints! LOL!
gonna steal your verbiage and make my own!

They look great! I love when being the hostess forces me to get jobs done! Sometimes its good to host a dinner party just so it forces me to thoroughly clean!
Oh my goodness...are you ME? LOL--I stumbled upon your blog while googling "white pumpkin topiaries." I too have faux orange pumpkin topiaries on the side of my house (very similar looking front door btw) and am thinking about trying white ones instead. I also used a grapevine wreath under the pumpkins (thought it was soley my super creative idea) and have the EXACT same urns you have that I got about 5 years back. Just had to share...you might be my long lost twin! :) Love the white topiaries, and you've inspired me to start a new project this weekend
What a cute idea with the topiaries! I'll have to try that! :) Thanks for the good idea! Great blog!
Love the pumpkin topiaries...I am so going to do that one year! They look great!
